Wormhole Expands Reach by Integrating with Unichain, Uniswap Labs’ Ethereum L2

Wormhole integrates with Unichain, facilitating seamless asset transfers across blockchains. This partnership enhances DeFi liquidity and offers developers efficient cross-chain solutions.

Wormhole has announced its latest integration with Unichain, a DeFi-native Ethereum Layer 2 network developed by Uniswap Labs. This move aims to enhance cross-chain liquidity and streamline asset transfers, according to Wormhole.

Unichain: A DeFi Powerhouse

Unichain is crafted to optimize decentralized finance (DeFi) operations and cross-chain liquidity, built on the OP Stack and part of the Optimism Superchain. As the first Stage 1 Rollup, it launched with a fully functioning permissionless fault proof system, ensuring trustless security network-wide.

Advantages of Unichain Integration

The integration with Unichain offers several benefits:

• Near-Instant Transactions: Initial block times are one second, with plans to reduce to 200-250 milliseconds, enhancing market efficiency.
• Cost-Effective Operations: Transaction costs are cut by approximately 95% through optimized Layer 2 scaling.
• Decentralization: Upcoming full node verification and the Unichain Validation Network will bolster security while maintaining efficiency.
• MEV Protection: TEE-based block building will soon offer transparent block building and transaction ordering, minimizing extractable value loss.

These features are open source, encouraging other rollups to leverage Unichain’s framework.

Asset Transfers via Portal

Asset transfers between Unichain and any of Wormhole’s 35+ connected blockchains are now possible through Portal. Users can access Portal, connect their wallet, select Unichain as the source or target chain, and complete the transfer process.

Developer Opportunities with Wormhole Connect

Developers can integrate token transfers to and from Unichain with minimal coding using Wormhole Connect. This tool facilitates the integration of wrapped and native token transfers directly into application UIs, ensuring seamless transfers across Wormhole’s network.
