NVIDIA invites developers to participate in the G-Assist Plug-In Hackathon, offering prizes and exposure for creating innovative AI tools.

NVIDIA has announced its latest initiative, the G-Assist Plug-In Hackathon, which invites AI developers and enthusiasts to create new plug-ins for its experimental AI assistant, Project G-Assist. The event, running virtually until July 16, 2025, offers participants a chance to win prizes and gain recognition through NVIDIA’s social media channels, according to NVIDIA’s blog.

Explore AI with G-Assist

Project G-Assist is designed to enhance the functionality of NVIDIA GeForce RTX systems, allowing users to control their GPUs and other system settings through natural language commands. This AI assistant operates on-device, eliminating the need to switch programs, and its capabilities can be expanded through custom plug-ins. These plug-ins can be integrated with agentic frameworks like Langflow, offering users significant flexibility and control.

Hackathon Participation and Rewards

Participants interested in the hackathon can register and access a range of technical resources provided by NVIDIA. Developers have the option to use Python for quick development, C++ for performance-critical applications, or pursue custom system interactions for hardware automation. Additionally, the G-Assist Plug-In Builder, a ChatGPT-based tool, offers a no-code or low-code development environment for ease of use.

To enter, developers must submit a GitHub repository containing their source code, a plug-in executable, and a demonstration video of their plug-in. Social media engagement is encouraged using the hashtag #AIonRTXHackathon. The judging panel will evaluate submissions based on innovation, technical execution, and community impact. Winners, announced on August 20, 2025, will receive high-end NVIDIA hardware, including a GeForce RTX 5090 laptop for the first place.

Technical Requirements and Community Engagement

Project G-Assist requires a GeForce RTX 50, 40, or 30 Series Desktop GPU, with a minimum of 12GB VRAM, and operates on Windows 10 or 11. It necessitates a compatible CPU and the latest GeForce Game Ready or NVIDIA Studio Driver.

For those looking to deepen their involvement, NVIDIA provides an array of resources, including a GitHub repository with sample plug-ins and comprehensive documentation. The company also hosts webinars and offers a Discord channel for community interaction and support.

NVIDIA continues to support the AI development community through initiatives like the G-Assist Plug-In Hackathon, fostering innovation and providing platforms for developers to showcase their creativity and technical prowess.
