The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a warning about a fraudulent website and internet banking login screen impersonating China Minsheng Banking Corp., Ltd.
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a warning concerning a fraudulent website and internet banking login screen that impersonates China Minsheng Banking Corp., Ltd. According to the HKMA, these deceptive platforms have been reported and are currently under investigation.
In its advisory, the HKMA emphasized that banks will not send SMS or emails containing hyperlinks directing users to their websites for transactional purposes. Both sensitive personal information and login credentials, such as passwords or One-Time Passwords (OTPs), should not be shared via phone, email, or SMS, including those with embedded links.
Individuals who have inadvertently provided personal information or conducted transactions through the fraudulent platforms are urged to contact the bank directly using the official contact details and report the incident to the Hong Kong Police Force. The Crime Wing Information Centre can be reached at 2860 5012 for such reports.
