Cronos (CRO) Launches Groundbreaking Prepaid Card Crypto Transfer Service

Cronos (CRO), in collaboration with Crypto.com, introduces a pioneering service allowing crypto transfers via prepaid cards, marking a significant milestone in bridging DeFi and traditional finance.

Cronos (CRO), a leading blockchain ecosystem, has unveiled a new service enabling seamless fund withdrawals via personal prepaid cards, according to Cronos. This innovative feature, developed in partnership with Crypto.com, is the first of its kind, representing a crucial step in strengthening the connection between decentralized finance (DeFi) and traditional financial systems.

Seamless Fund Transfers

Users can link their non-custodial Web3 wallets on Cronos EVM or Cronos zkEVM to a Crypto.com prepaid card, facilitating one-click recharges. If a specific token is unsupported, the platform automatically converts it to USDC or ETH, allowing near-instantaneous use of crypto assets in real life. This development simplifies the process of using digital assets, reducing waiting times and intermediary steps.

Industry Reactions

Ken Timsit, head of Cronos Labs, emphasized the ease this feature brings, enabling users to withdraw and use their crypto assets almost instantly wherever prepaid cards are accepted. Eric Anziani, COO of Crypto.com, highlighted the collaboration’s role in simplifying user experiences and accelerating the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies.

Technical Advancements

The service leverages zkSync technology, available on Cronos EVM and Cronos zkEVM, providing a high-performance Layer 2 network that directly bridges with Ethereum. This allows Ethereum users to smoothly withdraw fiat currency to a Crypto.com prepaid card.

Future Prospects

Cronos plans to introduce a system for automatically transferring DeFi yields to Crypto.com prepaid cards, further integrating decentralized finance into everyday financial activities. This initiative is part of Cronos’s broader goal to support over one billion crypto users in managing their assets securely within a Web3 environment.

Cronos, with a network of over 500 application developers and partners, supports more than 80 million users worldwide. It operates three blockchain networks: Cronos EVM, Cronos POS, and Cronos zkEVM, prioritizing DeFi and gaming sectors.
